‘Friends forever’ is a social support group for juvenile diabetic children and was started in 2000. This program is conducted by a clinical psychologist along with a diabetes educator. The Friends Forever support group meets once in a month, on a second Saturday. Children learn that life with diabetes can be fun and not an ordeal. They also have a unique opportunity to interact with similar children affected with juvenile diabetes. As part of this program, they are involved in cultural events, conducted within and outside the hospital. They are also taken for picnics, overall they realize that diabetes is not an obstacle for leading a normal happy life.
